To operate an IRB we need a driver and a crewman. All training is done within the club, firstly you gain your crewman’s which is a two week course involving some theory and practical training. From there you proceed onto your Silver Medallion IRB Drivers which is a 4-6 week course that is primarily made up of practical experience driving the boat. Training is usually made up of one day during the week and 3-4 hours on the weekend in the boat.  Upon completing this course successfully you are free to drive the boats on patrols and begin training to compete.
